Inclinel is a modular chain fixed to the structure that provides clinometric readings at multiple points on the same vertical, with 0.02° angular accuracy.
Solutions
On a tall structure, a few millimetres of settlement at the base translate into degrees of tilt at the top. Inclinel measures the angular drift at multiple points, before it becomes irreversible.

01 / The problem
Bell towers and masonry towers are among the longest-lived structures in the Italian landscape, built when there were no seismic codes and no measuring instruments. Foundation settlement, seasonal thermal variation, micro-seisms and wind action induce progressive angular displacements that, if not detected in time, can become irreversible.
Reaching great heights requires scaffolding or lifting equipment: visual inspections are costly and do not reveal slow movements.
Wind towers, too, work under cyclic loads that stress the base and the structure, and much of the building stock was built before modern seismic codes.
