For centuries, the embankments have protected the centre of Bovolenta (PD) from the flooding of the rivers that surround the heart of the town. Over the last twenty years, they have been severely tested by the recurring rise of water levels beyond warning levels. Of particular concern are the water spouts that open up when the river level rises rapidly and threatens the entire historic centre.
In 2022, as part of the works to secure the site through consolidation using expanding resin injections, we supplied a series of SuperMicron sensors pre-bonded to strips of corrugated steel, which were in turn fixed to the surface of the embankments.
This allows us to monitor any angular movements of the Murazzi that exceed the warning or alarm thresholds.
