Stress monitoring on the hull of an Azimut S7 motor yacht

Smart Skin Sensor biaxial sensors at the most structurally significant points of the hull to verify the Azimut S7's behaviour whilst underway.

The Azimut S7 is one of the largest vessels built by world leader Azimut at its shipyards in Avigliana (TO). The innovative structural design led the manufacturer to utilise the SuperMicron system (by applying a series of Smart Skin Sensor biaxial sensors at the most structurally significant points of the hull’s underwater section) to verify its behaviour during navigation. Having successfully completed all the planned tests, the vessel was then shipped to the United States to be delivered to its owner.

The monitoring provided a precise characterisation of the structures’ behaviour during navigation and their compliance with the design assumptions.
